vol. 4:
A birthday becomes us
(Norway, Feb 2016)
A tight knitted warmth:
sweet hug before unspooling
far around the globe ;;

Tromsø sits swaddled —
somewhere north of the Arctic
— in snow and magic.

by thirty years carting those
trying tourists, sighs.

Waiting for the Lights to show we realized our mistake
that we’d left the toe warmers you gave us for Christmas
still packed in our suitcases still warm
stuffed under the hotel bed so we let our feet freeze
in our boots packing snow across the frozen surface of a lake
Sara our honest puck guide assured us
was the best place to spot her the Selfish Lady Lights
we waited for hours without luck just the moon
unbuckling Orion’s belt my toes unbuttoning
themselves and then soft – look
a green haze crashing waves over the mountains above us
the whole sky was dancing and Sara tugged us by the glove
up a whole other mountain to see the green
light up the ice and trees below us

What will you do in Bergen?
No plans yet.
You will go to the harbor, you will see the fish market.
Because everyone does // and you should too.

All is not well in Bergen.

spaces that now run between

by trolls, we leave footprints deep
